Let’s Keep The Light On!
The Northern Light Cinema has always been about community. Bringing people together.
As we enter a period of ‘social distancing’ and self isolation we have to find ways to adapt, to stay together, even though COVID19 is forcing us to keep us apart.
We can’t show films for a while, but we can still play our part.
FREE FILM LIBRARY
Over the years we’ve amassed a fair few films on BluRay of DVD which have until now, been sat sadly on shelves gathering dust. But not any more! They are basking in their new found freedom and are sat in the foyer ready to be watched FREE OF CHARGE by anyone who needs a pick-me-up or just some help to while away a few hours – OK, so that’s all of us.
Just pop by and pick up a bundle – NO COST/ NO FORMS – just pop them back when you’re done. Oh, and when you do, please use the RETURNS box so we can give them a good clean before they go back on the shelves.
Want to add to the collection? Great! Just drop off any films you’d like to share in the foyer and we’ll wipe them down and get them on the shelves. Got to keep it sanitised!
Food shortages and empty shelves have hit the headlines lately so our deli will be staying open so we can still bring fresh bread from The Loaf every Wednesday to Saturday, alongside a select range of pastas, eggs, tinned fish and other non-perishables as well as a great range of pre-packaged artisan cheese.
Items will be available in our foyer alongside an “honesty box” so if you can pay great! – but if you’re hard up please take a few things to tide you over.
Our range of organic and biodynamic wines and our local ales and beers are available too with 30% off our in-bar prices, so pop in to stock up and keep sane.
OPEN WEDS-SAT 10am – 2pm
If you or someone you know is self isolating, just call us and we’ll take your order over the phone (01629 337513), and we’ll deliver (or should we say Paul will on his bike…) if possible the same day. Email us if that’s easier on email@example.com.
PLEASE CALL BETWEEN WEDS-SAT 10am – 2pm
**Limited to Wirksworth and local area residents (Paul said there’s no way he’s cycling up Cromford Hill…)
The next 6-12 weeks will be tough for all of us – but for some even more so. That’s why we’re asking for food donations now for nonperishable goods, to distribute to people who may find the coming weeks far more strenuous than others. If you have a surplus of any nonperishables you could spare, please drop them off with us.
We’ve been overwhelmed by people’s generosity since we announced our closure on Monday. All small businesses are under extreme financial pressures and as yet it’s unclear as to the level or timing of government support. But we’re committed to our staff for as long as possible, to be able to do all the above and to plan for better times.
If you are able to support us, you can do any of the following:
Buy a Voucher. 2 tickets £20.
For when we reopen our doors. There will be a mass of great films on offer including No Time To Die, Blithe Spirit and Wes Anderson’s latest, The French Dispatch.
Buy a Membership – Single £30 or Joint £50.
To be activated when we reopen our doors. With free tickets, discounts and priority booking.
Or Just Make a Donation.
For as little or as much as you can, this will really help to keep the cinema and our dedicated staff at the heart of our community.
Keep informed – Keep in touch – Keep safe,
The Northern Light Team
